Get ready, Mansfield - Australia's cheekiest portrait prize is coming to town.
This year, Mansfield - just two and a half hours northeast of Melbourne - will be the first Victorian gallery to host the playful, irreverent 2026 Bald Archy Prize. The exhibition runs from 21 March to 19 April 2026 at 101 High Street, Mansfield, and is open every day over Easter.

Arts Mansfield President Emma McPherson said the event is a major moment for the region's cultural calendar.
"We're proud to bring the Bald Archy Prize to Mansfield, and to welcome visitors of all ages," Mrs McPherson said.
"Hosting the first Victorian showing of the 2026 exhibition puts North East Victoria firmly on the arts map."
Celebrating its 30th milestone year, the Bald Archy Prize is Australia's most irreverent portrait award, showcasing satire, caricature and playful takes on well-known Australian figures. As a beloved counterpoint to traditional portrait prizes, the exhibition has cultivated a dedicated following for its sharp wit, audacity and distinctly Australian sense of humour.
Fungal Rotters by Cindy Mortyn
Adding to the buzz, Mansfield artist Cindy Mortyn joins the lineup for the 2026 show, spotlighting the region's creative talent and giving visitors one more reason to attend.
"It's an exhibition that invites people in, whether you’re a serious art lover or simply enjoy a good laugh, and we're especially delighted to see Cindy return as a finalist," said Mrs McPherson.
Presented by the Museum of the Riverina, the Bald Archy Prize draws crowds with its provocative and often hilarious takes on politicians, sporting legends and cultural figures. No public personality is off-limits, creating an exhibition that sparks laughter, conversation and reflection in equal measure.
The Arts Mansfield exhibition is open 10 am - 6 pm on Thursdays, and 10 am - 4 pm Friday to Sunday and Easter Monday, with special arrangements available for group bookings.
Visitors are encouraged to experience Australia’s cheekiest portrait prize firsthand and support local talent showcased on a national stage.
Tickets can be purchased at the door or via the Arts Mansfield website.
