In 2026, Lyster Opera marks 10 years with a bold new production of Gluck's immortal Orpheus & Eurydice, lighting up theatres across Victoria - from Rye, Geelong and Milawa to Castlemaine, Creswick, South Yarra and Moe. Tickets are now on sale for this stunning new production from one of Australia’s most distinctive regional opera companies.

This elegant, emotionally charged opera retells the timeless myth of Orpheus, who dares to descend into the underworld to reclaim his beloved Eurydice. On his perilous journey, he faces the terrifying Furies of Hell and the luminous Blessed Spirits of Elysium in one of opera's most powerful transformations from darkness to light.

With a stellar cast and Gluck’s blazing, dramatically intense score, this production offers a feast for the eyes and ears - visceral, vivid, and irresistibly theatrical.

Gluck's Orpheus & Eurydice is directed by Jamie Moffat, with musical direction by Pamela Christie, atmospheric sets crafted by Blair Parkinson, and evocative costumes designed by Maddy Connellan.
